A Sterling silver water pitcher, maker's mark of the Whiting Manufacturing Co., New York, number 5443, circa 1917. In the Art Deco taste, of paneled form with a molded rin, raised on a cut-corner oblong foot, one side engraved with a portrait of an Indian chief; height is 10 inches, weight is 25.95 troy ounces. The Indian chief is the logo of the American Tobacco Company--"Chief Powhatton," the "Keeper of the Leaf."
